Shoppers at budget supermarket giant Lidl are being warned to stop using their air fryer if it matches a certain product and product code, which has been hit with a recall. A product recall has been issued for the Tower 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer due to a ‘risk of overheating’ and a potential ‘fire hazard’.
Anyone with an air fryer sold in Lidl that matches product code T17129L is being urged to stop using it immediately. To check, go to www.tower-safety.co.uk and enter the batch number of your air fryer, which can be found on the base of your device. If your device is found to be in the affected batch, you can enter your details with Tower and get a free replacement.
Legally, you can also return the product to Lidl, by going to [email protected] or calling 0203 9665566.
Lidl said about the recall: “Our supplier is recalling the above-mentioned product due to risk of overheating, which could present a fire hazard. If you own one of the affected models, please stop using it immediately.
“Customers should contact the supplier at www.tower-safety.co.uk to check if their unit is affected and follow the instructions for returning it.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.”
Lidl stressed that ‘no other Tower products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall.’
Tower said to its customers: “Your safety is our top priority. We recently identified a potential issue with certain Tower air fryer models and are conducting a voluntary recall to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. If you own an affected model we’re here to make the process as simple as possible. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the following pages to confirm if you have an affected model, and if so what replacement options are available to you.”
It adds: “The fault has been deemed low risk by Trading Standards, however the safety and well-being of our customers is our top priority, and we have made the decision to voluntarily recall these models as a precautionary measure. “
